Available monthly site in west phoenix?

I'm going to be working in Litchfield Park (west of phoenix near avondale, goodyear, etc). I've been on the waiting list at Destiny RV Resort in goodyear for a month now, and still nothing. Can't even get the Cotton Lane rv park to call me back. Does anyone know of any other RV parks in the area? I need a monthly spot and will be commuting to Litchfield park so I don't want to go all the way to tempe, sun city, mesa, etc. thanks, Joe

RE: Okay! So Here Come The Questions!: Washer/Dryer in View??

The laundry rooms at campgrounds are much nicer than your average public place. We full-timed for a year and almost never saw anyone else using them. Never saw more than 1 other person. Plus you get your laundry done MUCH faster. Surprisingly, other campers were never interested in our unmentionables.. Should I be offended? :)

RE: Pricing on a new 2008 210 popular

Roadtrek is offering some rebates right now. www.roadtrek.com $1000 off on a 2008 (with 2008 chassis) 210 the $1000 goes to the dealer, so you have to factor that into your negotiations too.

Solution to the B / B+ / C debate?

So I read an article today that IAU has decided that Pluto (no longer be classified a planet, but too large to be called an asteroid) is now going to be classified as a Plutoid. (resisting the urge to list of other things that seem like they should be called plutoids) So I'm thinking instead of B+ how about C-toid or B-toid? The best part is it took them 2 years to come up with Plutoid, and now the are planning another argurement over what a plutoid actually consists of. Sort of made me wonder if Plutoids could have cab-over beds or slide-outs & whether they orbited best on diesel or gas... Joe

RE: Infomation on the Roadtek SS-Agile

In some parts of the country diesel is 25% more per gallon. Also most have reported at least 2mpg drop on the new sprinter chassis. So a gas chevy and the larger 08 adventurous 08 might finally be on par in those parts of the country. However I suspect even the new chassis on the shorter agile would still save you fuel money over a chevy. That being said don't forget handbasket's last point, the agile and adventurous are both much more open of a design than any chevy chassis B (that I've seen). Thats an important thing to encourage buyers to look at. Means a lot more than MPG to me.

RE: Roadtrek RS 08 problem

it sounds counter-intuitive but sometimes opening a roof vent just a bit allows the hot air to escape and the cool air to blow out of the AC easier. No need to run the vent, just open a roof vent a bit and try it. Of course, parking in the shade and covering the windows will help too. Whenever possible. Joe

RE: They got my power cord

Today it is copper, a decade ago it was construction supplies from new home developments. Apparently it wasn't a good idea to "park" next to one with the girlfriend. Took a while to convince the cop I had enough money I didn't need to steal 2x4's.... Ahh the good 'ol days...

RE: San Francisco Area R.V. parks

There is a place on the coast in Pacifica.. Sorry, I forget the name. Then there is one in san jose and several in morgan hill. Probably an hour south of SF though. I think if Downtown SF is what you really want to see, then the KOA or the place on the coast in Pacifica would be best. Here is their website. Says they are 15min south. Don't confuse them with the candlestick park that is also south of SF but on 101, not 1 on the coast! http://www.sanfranciscorvresort.com/

RE: Where is everybody?

If I owned a campground and if it was on a major east-west interestate like 10, 20, or 40, and if it was mostly an overnight campground in the middle of nowhere for folks going someplace else, then I would tell you that so far 08 has been our best year ever. Though I'd say the % of B's is probably double any other year (though thats going from 2% to 4%, not very large). I myself am planning a Northern, CA to (hopefully) FL trip in a week or so. It will be interesting to talk to campground owners along the way. It would also be interesting to talk to Jellystone & KOA to see if they will release their YTD camping numbers vs 07/06/etc.. Not sure if they do that. KOA In particular with 400+ campgrounds spread around the country would seem to be a good bellweather if they'll release the info.

RE: Satelite Internet Speed and Cost

Julie, if you'll be near any sizeable town, cellular data is the way to go.. Free or $50 card and (near big cities) much faster speeds than sat. and zero setup time. Just depends on where you are going. Check the 3G/EVDO coverage maps of the various providers. If they have coverage then go for it. Sat. works anywhere but its slower and a hassle..

RE: 7 days, 2480 miles, $1485 gas

I seriously question what some folks are quoting for airfare and hotels. In large cities "nice" hotels don't exist for $60. Also, airfare, and certainly last minute airfare isn't $250 roundtrip anymore. Even CA to AZ costs that much. More at last minute ($330). Beyond that, no Tivo in hotels. Debate over.

RE: Vegas Help Needed

If you really want to be on the strip, The KOA at the circus circus is the way to go. If you can stand being in a nice area only 3 miles or so from the south end of the strip, then the Oasis is the place to be.

RE: Any suggestions for leveling Class B RoadTrek on a driveway?

I may be wrong, but I thought the slow recovery time was limited to when the fridge was operating in propane mode. You can run it on 12v while driving, or run a long cord and plug the RV into electric for a few hours before departing. Joe

RE: Wasp

Somebody should build an RV-sized microwave... Pay $20, drive in, get out, and then set it on sandwich....

RE: I got hooked! (kinda long)

The last I heard you couldn't "transfer" warranties because the warranty existed with the car. You take it to GM, run the VIN, and it tells them the in service date. They don't care who the owner is. You probably should get some kind of documentation that shows when the RV was first sold. Otherwise GM's computer might think the in-service date is when they dropped off the bare van at Roadtrek. In theory the original selling dealer is supposed to update GM when the RV is sold. I've heard it doesn't always happen. Roadtrek, the original selling dealer, or the original owner should all be able to give you some kind of paperwork that indicates the sale date. Roadtrek tracks it so they know how long the RV is under their warranty.

It is built on a cutaway chassis and is definately a C by RVIA definition. Joe, "Less coffee!"

RE: Whats needed for towing a Vue behind a Class C

I could be wrong but I thought certain years of the Vue and its various engine/transmissions could be towed 4 down, and some could not. Check your specific manual and/or call saturn to be sure. Joe

RE: Great West Van, Sprinter Legend

I really like the sliding sofa in the Great West Van. Also the optional chest of drawers behind the drivers seat (at least on the 07 model) made a great laptop workstation. Haven't bought a sprinter B yet, but plan to someday.

RE: Are B Owners Nicer?

I was a little surprised by Rodger's post about RV Dealers "inventing" the b+ for the purpose of selling C's to people who wanted B's. I was under the impression that an rv manufacturer invented B+ and it caught on because it was a way to differentiate between a C that had a cabover and a C that did not. I find it hard to believe that some dealers invented it because they thought they could sway B buyers.. There just aren't enough B buyers to begin with. Yet, I can see a manufactuer (and even dealer) just wanting something to differentiate the product from a more typical C. I would think B owners would have a lot in common with anyone driving a C that was under 24' but with so few B owners I can also see them wanting to promote/explore/enjoy just B's so whatever works. Personally I don't see the point to the B+/C debate. Nobody ever said ONLY RVIA could define types, there is no law, they were just the first to do it. They also chose to base types on chassis types, which was a great idea when they came up with it, but now Rv types and feature sets are blending/merging. Class A/B/C were all invented to help customers/dealers describe RV types. As the RV market continues to expand, and chassis capacity expands, RVIA will have to invent new classes or officially bless some kind of sub-class. Consumers should be able to go to an RV dealer wanting a Kodiak/Volvo/freightliner type of C and ask for a C+ or whatever RVIA calls it. Same goes for a Class C without a cab over. People demand terms for ease of communication. Who cares who invented the B+ term? I understand wanting b+ topics in the C forum, but why all the anti-b+ responses? Who are you mad at? Why do you care if the consumers/dealers have started using the phrase B+ although the RVIA hasn't sanctioned it? Thats the part I don't understand. Everyone seems to understand what B+ means, so why the hate? Is it just because you believe it was only invented to scam B buyers into buying C's? Not trying to argue, just really don't understand why it angers so many.
